My Nov 15th 2023 ConEd bill saw a few changes.
- The most noticable change is the electricity tax holidy announced by County Executive George Lattimer in in November 2022 has now expired for electricity supply. The sales tax rate doubled from 3% to 6% for electric supply. Electric delivery and gas delivery and supply sales tax remained at 6%.
- My electric supply rate (post fees and taxes) held at 15.281 cents/kwH and my electric deliver rate dropped 8% to 20 cents/KwH and my total electricity rate dropped about 3% to 36 cents/KwH.
- My gas supply rate increased 2% to 54 cents/therm, gas delivery rate fell 15% to $2.04/therm and my total gas rate is $2.60/therm. You may ask why total supply + demand doesn’t equal the total charge. The answer is a little complicated but has to do with the basic gas delivery charge and they differences in included gas in that charge. We will dive into this in another post, but my for now – my gas rate fell to $2.66/therm from $2.92. Considering how warm October was, this is no surprise.
